Archive for December, 2009

When you think senior portraits, you typically start to think about taking some summertime photos.  Not the case for EJ!  His mom held off on getting his portraits in hopes of finding someone that would truly catch her son’s character.  When she contacted me about setting up a December date to take EJ’s photos, I was more than happy to oblige.

We ended up heading over to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to take some photos around the Peninsula Depot of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad , a few shots by the Winking Lizard Tavern, then we made a quick trip over to Camp Butler and to the old abandoned Players Barn off of Route 303.  Here are some of my favorites from our brisk December session.

Hmm...contemplating one of their juicy burgers for dinner later?

EJ enjoys taking photos too, and I'm betting he's good at it just based on his ease and ability in front of the camera

Such a dashingly handsome young man.

So many fun shots here

EJ would totally fit in with all those Abercrombie boys

Would you ever believe that it was around 30 degrees that day? Yeah, he made it look effortless with his posing!

It was great spending the day finding all kinds of fun locations around Peninsula, EJ.  Best of luck in the remainder of your senior year!

As many of you know, I walked in the Cleveland Breast Cancer 3-Day walk back in 2008.  Over the course of 3 days, I walked 60 miles in order to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and education.  It was one of the BEST experiences that I have ever taken part in and would recommend the event for anyone looking to do something amazing for a wonderful cause.  So this coming year, while I won’t be participating as a walker I wanted to do something for this cause that I cherish deeply and….BING!  A light bulb went on in my head and I decided that I would host all-day marathon photo sessions for boudoir or maternity portraits!  Both portrait types, I feel, embrace the beauty and essence of being a woman…a perfect match for the charity I want to support.  This event would be a way in which I could combine two things I love…raising awareness for breast cancer AND taking photos!

So…ATTENTION LADIES out there who are looking for a special gift to give their significant other (fyi, these photos will be ready just in time for Valentine’s day!) or are looking for a special way to remember their pregnancy, now’s the chance!  Join me Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 for a 45-minute session where 100% of the proceeds will go towards the cause!

See the photos below for details.  (Please click on the image to enlarge)

If you would like more information, or are interested in signing up for a spot, send me an email: tamarak58@yahoo.com.  I’ve already received positive interested on this event, so sign up SOON before all the spots fill up!

Christmas is around the corner and I think little miss Leah is starting to get excited!  The day I visited, the Christmas tree went up and oh what fun all the pretty lights and ornaments are to play with!  Check out some fun photos from our afternoon of play.

Ornaments go in the mouth...right?

Playing with an ornament from when her Dad was a baby

Leah loves showing you her belly button (as well as finding yours! haha)

I think right around now is when the tickle monster came for a visit!

Nothing like bare baby belly and a good book!

Such a beautiful family!

Leah loves her Daddy (and possibly the cool-whip on his lip! 😉 )

Oooh, pretty lights!

Candy Cane Antlers

I love the sequence in the following photos.  Makes me crack up everytime I see them!

Who's behind the door?

It's Dad being silly!

All tuckered out from playing!

Thanks for having me over for the afternoon!  Leah, make sure you leave cookies and milk out for Santa so he gets you something goo! 😉

Meet Baby Ava!

On November 14th, my friend Kelly and her husband Lou welcomed baby Ava into the world. I got a chance to meet the sweet, little girl when I popped over for a visit the other week. While Ava wasn’t quite in the mood for posing for photos, we still managed to get some adorable shots in!

All cozy in her blanket

Momma...I'm cold! (crying, yet still adorable!)

Ava's mom did a BEAUTIFUL job decorating her room! Perfectly girly!

All snug as a bug again. 🙂

The comforting touch of mom.

Where'd you put my blankie again??

Those tiny feet!

Chillaxin' on the couch...

night, night everyone!

I had the opportunity for another family portrait session the other week, this time around focusing on two brothers.  The family hasn’t gotten any professional photos of them together since they were around the age of 14, so they thought it was about time! 🙂  Here are a few of my favorites from our session.

These guys has a great sense of humor with taking these photos.

Who's the stronger brother?? 😉

I loved their specs!

A photo of Matt

and a shot of Danny

My attempt at American Gothic. Lame or Rad? 🙂

Playing frisbee with the pups.

Amazingly, we got everyone looking at the camera! (leftover turkey might have helped with that!)

One last one with the whole family.

Thanks for a fun afternoon!  Hope your family enjoys the updated photos of the boys.  Happy Holidays!

February 1st is the big day for Megan and Scott.  That’s that anticipated day that they will finally get to meet their new little one.  We will also get to find out if we will be helping them welcome a member to team pink or team blue since they are keeping the gender a surprise until their bundle of joy makes his/her presence in the world.  I love that!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from their session the other week.

A heart-felt moment

A reflection on one of Megan and Scott's favorite pastimes - yoga.

Megan, Scott & Baby with Scott's dad looking over them.

This mural in the baby’s room has special significance.  Both of Megan’s and Scott’s fathers have past away in recent years and they wanted to find a way to incorporate them into their baby’s life.  In the photo above, you will see Scott’s father fishing. 🙂  If you love the mural idea as much as I do, and would love to have one done, you can contact the fabulous artist – Michele Sokol Kalafat – through her website here: Dyehearts.

We lucked out with a gorgeous, while cool, day that enabled us to get some shots outside.

I love that Megan & Scott allowed me to take photos of them by what seemed a "blah" spot. They ended up some of my favorites!

I love the lines in this shot!

How sweet and perfect is this?!

Tender moment + FAB lighting = Another favorite shot!

Thank you guys for having some great photo ideas and for being open to some of my crazy ideas.  You made my job all that much easier!  I wish you lots of joy in these last 2 months of pregnancy and I can’t wait to hear the news when your little bundle of joy arrives! 🙂

The holiday season is upon us so that means it’s time for family portraits!  (Who wouldn’t want to see receive a photo card in the mail or some gift-wrapped prints/albums  with new shots of the kiddos right about now?)

So the other week I meet up with Kristy (Miss Morgan’s mommy!) and her siblings and their kids for some family portraits.  These photos are going to be holiday gifts to their parents though, so SHHHHHHHH…don’t spill the beans! (That means no mention of these to them on the ever popular communication mode, Facebook!)

Here are some shots from the afternoon for you to enjoy.

Morgan sharing a fun moment with her mom and dad.

Sweet Miss Mackenzie playing with the toy puppy.

The whole fam!

Morgan loves her Uncle Corey!

The laughing smiles here are in response to how silly it is to even attempt to get the young ones to stay still for a photo!

At least we got the adults all looking at me on this one! Haha.

Morgan being silly and about to take the camera away from me. She LOVED seeing the photo preview on the LCD!

Morgan loved pushing Mackenzie around in the basket!

Then she got an opportunity to ride too!

Morgan hangs her ornament

Mackenzie's turn now!

And I'll finish off with Kristy, Corey, and Kelly re-visiting a photo pose from their childhood past. 🙂

Thanks for a fun afternoon!  I hope your family enjoys the holiday photos!
